Inspiration
I have spent the last few years studying texturing fabrics by aging them with varying techniques, among other things composting and rusting. I find it interesting how decaying plants, oxidating iron and other materials leave their mark on fabric or paper as time passes. The result is new colors and textures, and marks of aging and decay.
I'm also interested in how to control these seemingly random marks, and how to manage the aging process of the fabric.
In my opinion the technique
supports well the studying of passing, stopping time and ones attitude towards materials, things that I find more important every day with the accelerating rhythm of today's life.
In earlier works I've also let chance play a role. When fulling wool the result is unique every time.
